News in brief

CHARITIES, voluntary groups and social enterprises across Tynedale could be eligible for a slice of a £100,000 community fund launched by the police and crime commissioner.

Vera Baird is making grants of up to £2,000 available to group activities or projects supporting her police and crime plan.

Initiatives supporting victims, tackling anti-social behaviour, dealing with domestic and sexual abuse, promoting crime prevention or helping to reduce crime are being encouraged to apply before September 19.

Information about the fund and details of how to apply are available online at www.northumbria-pcc.gov.uk
