News in brief

NORTHUMBERLAND County Council has declared war on wasps and other nasties like fleas, bed bugs, rats and mice.

Its highly trained pest busting team is poised to blitz the county to encourage the pests to buzz off.

At this time of year wasps are extremely active and their nests, which can be home to over 5,000 wasps and grow to the size of a football, can be found in sheds, lofts, air bricks and bushes.

Wasp stings are just a painful annoyance for most people, but for a significant minority can cause a potentially deadly allergic reaction.

Book an appointment with the pest control service online at northumberland.gov.uk/pest or telephone 0845 600 6400.
