News in brief

TINDERBOX Tynedale is at high risk of wildfire breaking out due to the continued hot and dry weather.

Firefighters in Northumberland are asking everyone to take extra care, for although some are started deliberately, most wildfires are caused by carelessness.

People are being asked not to throw cigarette ends out of the car and not to have bonfires or barbecues in the open countryside.
