News in brief

A LORRY driver was left crying over split milk in Stocksfield on Friday morning after his vehicle started leaking its load.

The incident, which happened at 8.40am, saw milk running down the A695 between Broomley and Branch End.

A fire crew from Hexham attended the scene and the road was closed to traffic shortly after 9am, re-opening at 11.45am.

At the same time in a separate incident, a motorist crashed into a wall near Stocksfield railway station.

The woman driver suffered minor injuries .

Safety checks were carried out on the railway line below, but it is not believed there were any traffic or rail delays.
