News in brief

STREET lights could go up to illuminate a popular walking route in Bardon Mill.

There are currently no lights along the road between Riverdale and Thorntree Close, which is often used by pedestrians after dark.

Local county councillor Alan Sharp has offered to fund the scheme out of his member’s allowance if there is a genuine need.

He said: “I am happy to ask the county to have a look at that, and put it on the members’ allowance scheme if the residents are keen to have it done.”
