Newbrough: village notes

I HAVE been asked to mention that Dorothy and Dennis Bowman have now retired from the garage at Fourstones.
Dennis and Dorothy had run the business for many years and seen many changes since they started. I am sure many of you who have used, or still use, the garage would like to wish them both well in their retirement.
DESPITE the weather, people still managed to make their way to the town hall on Saturday for the pensioners’ lunch.
Yet again it was thoroughly enjoyed by those who attended, and I have been asked to thank the organisers and anyone who was involved in providing a wonderful meal and the entertainment. Your time and effort was greatly appreciated.
TICKETS are now on sale for the village panto which takes place next month in the town hall. There will be three evening performances of Bravebelly: The Panto, as well as a matinee.
The performances take place from Thursday, February 14, until Saturday, February 16. Tickets are available from Fourstones Service Station.

AT a public meeting in Wylam Institute it was decided to split the remaining money in the village's peace celebration fund between the village schools and a planned war memorial to the Fallen.
A brass plaque bearing the names of 19 former students who died in the Great War was to be erected in the Wylam Council Schools at a cost of £20 and £30 was to be donated to the war memorial fund.
