HEXHAM Abbey is ablaze with colour – thanks to coffee beans!
All first and middle schools in Hexham have produced artwork using coffee to exhibit in the church in support of Fairtrade Fortnight.
With Hexham designated a Fairtrade town, the challenge to come up with a unique piece of art using Fairtrade coffee was thrown down.
And all schools have shown their creative side with a variety of interesting work on display.
Hexham Abbey education officer Toni Bush said: “The Abbey is awash with colour and it is amazing to see how creative you can be with coffee.
“This project was completely untried so it is credit to the teachers and pupils that have worked to produce some outstanding artwork.
“It is lovely to see the schools are all so committed to promoting the link with Hexham being a Fairtrade town.”
The exhibition will remain in the Abbey throughout next week.
