Bike thieves hit East Tynedale

POLICE are investigating a series of burglaries in East Tynedale at the weekend, which officers believe may be linked.
Overnight on Friday, a bicycle worth £500 was stolen from a backyard on Falcon Terrace in Wylam.
Three males were seen acting suspiciously in the area at 12.20am. The youths are described as between five foot six and five foot seven and wearing dark hoods.
Between 6pm on Friday and 11am on Saturday, two bicycles worth up to £2,000 were also stolen from a shed on Castle View, in Ovingham, after burglars removed the screws from the door. A child’s tricycle was also taken, but was later recovered nearby.
Then at around 3am on Saturday, two burglars, matching the description of the youths, were disturbed while trying to steal two bikes from a shed on Piper Road in Ovingham.
