£3,000 donation for Ponteland charity

A PONTELAND-based charity has been given a welcome boost through a £3,000 donation from local businesses.

Useful Vision organises days out and activities for blind and vision-impaired youngsters and their families across the whole of the North-East.

Over the past few months, the money was raised by 13 local Co-op staff, mainly in the Gateshead area, the staff from which were keen to support its work.

Useful Vision trustee director Rebecca Wilson said: “I can’t thank the staff enough.

“The amount they have raised is absolutely fantastic.

“We are able to run a regular programme of activities that are not only great fun but that stimulate the children and improve their self-confidence thanks to the support we get from the local community.”
