Production line gets a royal name

SHE’S had ocean liners, forests and numerous prestige projects named after her – but it’s doubtful the Queen has ever had a production line named after her before!

But staff at Hexham’s Egger UK chipboard factory have voted overwhelmingly to christen a new state of the art lamination line Elizabeth in honour of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

Joint managing director Bob Livesey explained:“Traditionally each lamination line is given a girl’s name, so we held a naming competition within the lamination department.

“Out of 62 suggestions there was an overwhelming majority to christen the new line Elizabeth to commemorate the Jubilee.

“The new lamination line has been added alongside the existing lines, which will ensure our chipboard products continue to meet the exacting quality standards demanded by the UK furniture sector.”

The new line is the latest investment at Egger’s Hexham plant, which is currently the most technologically advanced of its kind in Europe.
