A HEXHAM wood supplier has added another string to its bow by becoming the UK distributor for a major log house provider in Finland.
Jackson’s of Hexham, in Bridge End, is celebrating making an agreement to act as an agent for Ikihirsi, working on its behalf to promote the company across the country.
With log houses big business in Finland, Ikihirsi has a huge reputation and is ranked in the top 10 of providers in the country.
Jacksons had worked with the Finnish company previously, helping West Woodburn farmer Billy Findler transform a wetland on his farm into a lakeside treat for visitors with three state-of-the-art lodges.
Now, Jackson’s has been asked by Ikishiri to continue the relationship.
Owner Michael Jackson said: “It is a real bonus for us and it is good for us to deal with such a high profile, quality business such as Ikishiri.
“Our company turnover has gone down as a result of the poor weather, so this is another revenue stream, an addition to what we already provide and a real feather in our cap.”

Workmates rushed to the aid of 50-year-old Richard Barclay, of Stocksfield, when the wall of the trench he was digging collapsed.
They managed to dig his head and shoulders free before finally pulling him from the earth. He was found to be suffering from shock and bruising.
