Tynedale torchbearer - Josie Hart

SEVENTEEN-YEAR-OLD Josie Hart, from Lowgate will run with the Olympic Torch through Hexham in memory of Emma Newton.

The Youth Dance Tynedale member performed with Emma at the town’s Queen Elizabeth High School before the 18-year-old was killed last year.

Since then, Josie and her peers have worked tirelessly to raised money for the Emma Newton Fund.

She was nominated as a torchbearer by one of her father’s work colleagues.

Josie said: “Everyone involved with Youth Dance Tynedale has done things to raise money for the fund, so I’m doing this for everybody, especially Emma.

“It’s a really amazing opportunity to be part of history and I feel really proud to be able to do it.”
