A TEN-YEAR-OLD girl is in a critical condition after falling through a building skylight in Prudhoe.
The incident happened just after 6pm on Sunday when police in the town were informed by the ambulance service about a young girl falling through a skylight on the roof of the Unionist Club on West Road.
Officers believe the child had been playing on the roof with other children when she fell from the building on to concrete.
The girl, who is not being identified, is in a critical but stable conditon in Newcastle General Hospital.
Prudhoe’s neighbourhood inspector Glen Bland said: “It appears this girl had climbed on to the roof with her friends when she fell through the skylight.
“Our thoughts are with the girl and her family. This highlights the dangers of playing on buildings and roofs. Such activity presents obvious dangers.
“We’d also urge people who see youngsters on the roofs of buildings to get in touch with police straight away so hopefully action can be taken before something like this happens again.”
