Your Flood Pictures

FOUR-and-a-half inches of rain fell on parts of Tynedale. Rain we would normally expect over a month fell in the space of 72 hours. Here are pictures sent to us of the floods.
In such extreme conditions, it is quite remarkable that the River Tyne was contained within its banks.
Other towns and villages across the district were not so fortunate. And hundreds of families have spent this week enduring the pain and heartache of salvaging what precious possessions they could from their devastated homes.
In the aftermath of the floods the Hexham Courant was sent photographs which catalogued the scale of devastation across Tynedale, which we have decided to post on our website.
We are grateful to those who took the time and trouble to send this remarkable series of pictures to us.
