Longtown reach second cup final

Long-time Tesco premiership leaders Longtown are through to their second cup final.

Longtown will take on Bransty in the final of the J Edgar & Son Conway Cup having already booked a place in the ISS Waterers Peter Dawson Cup against Netherhall. Longtown saw off J Edgar semi-final opponents Cockermouth with a 3-2 victory.

Craig Thompson, Lee Crow and Andy Bell scored for Longtown while Martin Thompson and Neil Fox hit the net for Cockermouth.

New club FC32, of Workington, remain on course for a league and cup double.

The division one leaders defeated Silloth 3-1 in their West Cumbria Scaffolding Divisional Cup semi-final. Tom Pardini scored twice and Stuart Gray added another for FC32 with Silloth’s Brian Hayhurst scoring from the penalty spot.

The other semi went the way of Carlisle Amateurs who defeated South Workington 4-1. Andy Rogerson, Chris Kelleher, Phillip Hetherington and Pat Prison scored for Carlisle.

Champions Netherhall are back on top of the Tesco premiership but were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Frizington Whitestar.

Craig Johnston scored for Netherhall while Craig Trembath hit a stunning 35-yard free kick effort for Frizington.

Also in the premiership there was a 6-1 win for Bransty at Whitehaven Miners and a 3-0 victory for Wigton Harriers at Mirehouse.

Chris Armstrong scored a hat-trick for Bransty for whom Ryan Cornish, Ryan Phillipson and Karl Doran also scored. Callum Henderson hit Miners’ consolation.

Wigton’s goals at Mirehouse came from Andy Pinskey, Chris Graves and Rob Hunter.

There was an 8-0 win for Carlisle City over Parton Utd Res in division one. Getting the goals were James Burton (2), Jonathan Coulthard (2), James Hartley, Josh Harding, John Simpson and Ben Henderson.

Hearts were 4-1 winners at Parton Utd for whom Ron Ennis scored. I’m trying to get the Hearts scorers
