Wylam make county quarters

A PLACE in the quarter-finals of the Northumberland FA Sunday Minor Cup was secured by Wylam at the weekend.

Edging past Newcastle Daisy Hill 3-2, the Hexham and District Sunday League leaders are flying the flag for Tynedale in the county cup.

The final eight was just a step too far for The Falcon Prudhoe ,though, as they crashed out 6-2 in extra time to Forest Hall CC after finishing 90 minutes tied at 2-2.

One goal was enough to shoot Stocksfield back into contention at the top of Division One, scraping past bottom club Rose and Crown Bellingham.

Meanwhile, Ryton and Crawcrook Albion heaped more pressure on third bottom Hexham Phoenix as they returned with a 3-1 triumph.
