Wylam continue to catch the eye

DARK horses Wylam pushed home their advantage at the top of the Hexham and District Sunday League with a late winner.

A last gasp decider saw them defeat last season's runners-up Hexham Phoenix 3-2 and moved them four points clear.

They made the most of Stocksfield slumping to a second successive defeat as they went down 3-2 at second bottom The Prudhoe Falcon, while fellow title chasers Haltwhistle Conservative's game at Bellingham Rose and Crown was postponed.

It ended all square elsewhere in the division as Barrasford and Prudhoe Town drew 1-1, as did Ryton and Crawcrook Albion and Allendale.
