West Tyne League gets under way

HAYDON Bridge start their title defence of the West Tyne Senior Cricket League with a home game with Prudhoe.


The champions are in action as the new season gets underway on Saturday, the fixture just one of many eye catching games planned as a swinging start is predicted.

Last season's runners-up Haltwhistle face KO Cup winners Hexham Leazes, and third placed Wylam make the trip to Allendale.

Stocksfield II and Matfen will battle it out, while Benwell Hill III host Stamfordham and Humshaugh entertain newcomers Mitford.

Division Two champions Mitford II host strugglers Stocksfield IV, while Allendale II mark their return to the division with a trip to Wylam II.

Fellow new boys Medomsley are at home to Belsay, Newcastle III entertain Newton and relegated side South Northumberland 1864  welcome Humshaugh II.

Elsewhere, Stocksfield III play host to Haltwhistle II and Wark entertain Hexham Leazes II.
