Tynedale lose out to relegation rivals

TYNEDALE RFC outscored relegation rivals Cinderford by five tries to three - but still ended up on the losing side.

Their perilious position towards the foot of the table was not helped when a late try from Matt Charters was not converted to leave Tyne one point short at 28-27.

Second bottom Tynedale started the game like a house on fire and were leading 10-3 at the break, tries from Sep Visser and Chris Harris putting them in the driving seat.

But tries from Cinderford's Roger Brikin, Joe Garner and Nev Codlin saw the hosts enjoy the upper hand at 22-10.

Yet Visser ensured the boys from Corbridge were not out of it, completing his hat-trick with two further tries to put his side level with just over 10 minutes to play.

Mark Davies sent two penalties over for Cinderford to open up a six point lead which proved vital as Charters' try was not enough to give Tynedale a glimmer of hope of beating the drop.
