Surprise package Wylam remain on course

SURPRISE leaders of Hexham and District Sunday League, Wylam hope to carry their form into 2014.

In their first game of the new year, they host Allendale looking to continue building up a head of steam as they forge ahead at the top of the tree.

Having already beaten Sunday's opponents 5-0, Wylam will look to extend the gap with second placed Stocksfield, who have no game scheduled, to four points. Allendale, meanwhile, could move up one spot to fifth.

Last year's champions Haltwhistle Conservatives are hoping to keep the pressure on at the top and they host a Barrasford team who are capable of beating anyone in the division on their day.

It promises to be as close as the reverse fixture which ended 3-2 to Cons, Barra the second highest scorers in the division against the league's meanest defence.

In the only other game in Division One, Ryton and Crawcrook Albion will look to cement fourth place when they welcome second bottom The Falcon Prudhoe.

With second place in Division Two already guaranteed, Bardon Mill look to wind down their season in style and they go looking for their 12th league win of the season with a trip to Hexham Hearts.

Haydon Bridge Anchor look to complete the double over Phoenix Chopwell, while winless Swinburne Arms Stamfordham welcome Dr Syntax Prudhoe.
