Stocksfield's comeback falls short

DESPITE rallying back in the final 20 minutes, Stocksfield failed to progress in the Challenge Cup.
They went down 3-2 at home to Northern Alliance Premier Division rivals Red House Farm, the hosts unable to make the most of their chances to take the tie to extra time.
In league action, Wallington slipped to fourth spot in the table as they conceded a late equaliser to be held at Northbank Carlisle.
Struggling Heddon received a hammer blow in their fight to beat the drop from Division One, hammered 11-1 away to Gateshead Redheugh 1957.
Ponteland United breezed into the last 16 of the Northumberland FA Minor Cup as they defeated Lindisfarne Athletic 7-1. They are joined in the next round draw by Hexham who were awarded the tie when visitors Highfields United conceded.
Meanwhile, Division Two side Chopwell edged Wearhead United 1-0 to make it past round two of the Durham FA Minor Cup.
There were 3-0 defeats for both Prudhoe Town and Ryton and Crawcrook Albion, Town losing at Horden CW in Wearside League and Ryton going down at Alnwick Town in Division Two of the Northern League.
Tynedale Ladies maintained their push at the top of the North East Women's Regional Football League with a 3-1 victory over Redcar Athletic, while Prudhoe Towm Women won 2-0 at Kader.
