STOCKSFIELD responded the best way possible to their 7-1 drubbing at the hands of Carlisle City.
For an excellent team performance saw them progress through to the next round of the Challenge Cup, defeating Shankhouse by three goals to nil.
Chopwell were involved in a nine-goal thriller with High Howdon Social Club in the Amateur Cup, eventually booking their place in the next round by finding a winning goal late in extra time to win 5-4.
There were defeats all-round for the district's Northern Alliance representatives, Wallington losing 4-1 at home to Ashington Colliers in the Premier Division and Heddon losing 3-1 at Cralington Town in Division One.
But the unwelcome honour of defeat of the day belonged to Hexham as they were thrashed 10-1 at home to Newcastle University.
Prudhoe Town picked up a useful point in the Wearside League, returning from Ashbrooke Belford House with a 1-1 draw.
Ryton and Crawcrook Albion's participation in the FA Vase ended at the weekend as they went down 5-1 to Holker Old Boys.
