Stocksfield after runners-up spot

STOCKSFIELD'S fight for second spot in the Hexham and District Sunday League sees them host last year's runners-up tonight.

After putting 21 goals past Divsion Two whipping boys Swinburne Arms Stamfordham on Sunday, Stocksfield welcome Hexham Phoenix to the cricket club looking to reduce the gap with second placed Wylam to one point, Phoenix bringing their league campaign to a close.

Over in the Mick Simmons Trophy, Prudhoe Social, the winners over Acomb Welfare by 12 goals to nil at the weekend, play host to Division One side Barrasford.

Meanwhile, Allendale entertain neighbours Haydon Bridge Anchor and Dr Syntax Prudhoe play Bardon Mill in an all-Division Two contest.

Ryton and Crawcrook Albion's late bid to beat the drop in the Northern League sees them travel to South Shields on the back of two consecutive 1-1 draws.
