Stern warm-up for Wallington

WALLINGTON will warm up for next week's Challenge Cup final with a tough league game on Saturday.

The Greens would join fifth placed visitors Whitley Bay A on 37 points for the season in the Premier Division of the Northern Alliance if they pick up the relevant points at Scots Gap.

The game will be a good test before they head to Ashington on Thursday evening to contest the cup final with league leaders Walker Central.

Elsewhere in the Prem, Stocksfield look to continue their climb up the table when the in-form team welcome Shankhouse to the cricket club.

In Division One, Hexham make the long trip north to Wooler looking to create more breathing space behind them and the teams in the relegation battle.

Meanwhile, Ponteland United face a tough task as they welcome third placed North Shields Athletic to town.

Prudhoe Town face a home double in the Wearside League as they welcome Jarrow to Kimberly Park on Saturday before entertaining Silksworth Colliery Welfare on Wednesday evening.

The same applies for Northern League side Ryton and Crawcrook Albion who will host Willington and Whitehaven respectively.

With title chasing Tynedale Ladies targeting victories from all of their remaining five fixtures in the North East Women's Football League, Sunday's home game with third placed Birtley St Josephs Ladies is a must-win game. In the same division, Prudhoe Town Women make the trip to Kader.
