Prudhoe Youth eliminate local rivals

THE Falcon Prudhoe knocked out Hexham and District Sunday League rivals Barrasford to progress in the county cup.
They booked their place in the third round of the Northumberland FA Sunday Minor Cup after defeating The Robins 5-3.
Joining them in the hat for the next round draw is Wylam as they breezed through courtesy of an 8-0 thumping of The Elephant Ashington.
Ryton and Crawcrook Albion's involvement in the Durham County Cup was ended as hostsHartlepool Throston put three without reply past them.
In Division One, Haltwhistle Conservatives bounced back to winning ways in spectacular style as they thumped last season's runners-up Hexham Phoenix 8-0.
Allendale, who shocked Haltwhistle the previous week, went down 2-0 at Prudhoe Town.
Bardon Mill cemented second spot in Division Two as they returned from Dr Syntax Prudhoe with a 6-2 success.
But they are still playing catch up to leaders Prudhoe Social Club who maintained their 100 per cent record courtesy of a 5-2 win over Acomb Welfare.
Haydon Bridge Anchor defeated Swinburne Arms Stamfordham 8-2, while Hexham Hearts were 4-1 winners over Phoenix Chopwell.

A workman was buried alive while digging a drain in the Prudhoe Urban Council's housing estate at Oaklands.
Workmates rushed to the aid of 50-year-old Richard Barclay, of Stocksfield, when the wall of the trench he was digging collapsed.
They managed to dig his head and shoulders free before finally pulling him from the earth. He was found to be suffering from shock and bruising.
