Prudhoe push to avoid the drop

THE Falcon Prudhoe go into Sunday's trip to Allendale hoping to boost their chances of staying in Division One of the Hexham and District Sunday League.

Following last year's promotion, they currently lie four points adrift of safety would give themselves a fighting chance to beat the drop against an Allendale side who are lurking above the drop zone despite occupying a midtable spot.

The Falcon will learn their opponents in the semi-finals of the Division One KO Cup at the weekend, too, as Haltwhistle Conservatives and Barrasford go head-to-head for the chance to meet the youth club side.

Meanwhile, a place in the final four of the John Pickworth League Cup is up for grabs when Hexham Phoenix and Stocksfield meet at Tyne Green.

The pick of the bunch in the Mick Simmons Trophy will be the battle between Division One's Ryton and Crawcrook Albion and Bardon Mill, who will meet their opponents in the league next season after securing second spot in Division Two.

Division One side Prudhoe Town welcome lower ranked Acomb Welfare, but the rest of the ties are all-Division Two affairs.

Champions Prudhoe Social Club host basement side Swinburne Arms Stamfordham, Haydon Bridge Anchor welcome Phoenix Chopwell and Warden Boatside play host to Dr Syntax Prudhoe.
