New-look Heddon in Hexham derby

NEW boss Billy Finlay will be thrown into the deep end after rescuing Heddon in the 11th hour.
After stepping in to stop the club from folding right at the last minute, a Tyne Valley derby at home to Hexham is first up for the manager and his new squad on Saturday.
Having lost their opening five games in Northern Alliance and failing to fulfil last week's meeting with Ponteland United, things need to dramatically pick up but they will face a tough task against a Hexham side going into the game on the back of a 3-1 win at Gosforth Bohemians.
Elsewhere in the Alliance, Ponteland play host to Bedlington Terriers Reserves in Division One and Chopwell entertain Alnwick Town Reserves in the second division.
The district's two Premier Division teams have home ties with Division Two opposition, Stocksfield playing Cramlington United and Wallington facing High Howdon Social Club in the first round of the Archers of Blyth George Dobbins League Cup.
An out-of-form Prudhoe Town look to kickstart their season with a home game against Horden CW in the Wearside League, while Ryton and Crawcrook Albion remain in the hunt for their first win in Division Two of the Northern League against South Shields.

THREE watercolour paintings donated by Queen Mary were auctioned off to raise money for a new Darby and Joan club in Hexham.
A site had already been bought, but a further £6,000 was needed to run the club for the elderly.
The auction, opened by Viscountess Allendale, saw the paintings raise over £8 for the fund.
