Hexham's hopes in trapdoor battle

THE fight to beat the drop in Division One of the Northern Alliance will intensify tonight, with Hexham looking to move away from the bottom two.

The Tyne Valley outfit host fellow strugglers Bedlington Terriers Reserves where victory for the home side could move them up one spot but potentially a healthy six points clear of second bottom Heddon.

Heddon are desperate for the points in their penultimate game of the season, and they travel to fierce rivals Ponteland United tonight who are trying to avoid dropping to a fifth successive defeat.

In the Premier Division, Stocksfield are targeting seventh spot and could leapfrog Wallington if they manage to claim all points in their home encounter with table topping Walker Central.

While Prudhoe Town's season may be petering out, they are sure to be pumped up for tonight's home encounter with old foes Annfield Plain as they meet in the Wearside League.

Tomorrow evening, Tynedale Ladies' late surge towards the North East Women's Football League title sees them welcome basement club Birtley Town Ladies to Kingsley Park.
