Heddon edge rivals Hexham

HEDDON kept alive their slim hopes of beating the drop from Division One at the expense of Tyne Valley rivals Hexham.

A slender 1-0 victory sent them level on points with their opponents who slipped down one place as the season nears a dramatic end.

Both teams were helped out by Ponteland United as they defeated bottom club Willington Quay Saints by the only goal of the game too.

In the Premier Division, Stocksfield held title chasing Whitley Bay A to a 2-2 draw but Wallington were thumped 5-0 at home to put an end to their title challenge.

Prudhoe Town bounced back from their 10-0 drubbing at the hands of Easington Colliery to defeat Coxhoe Athletic 3-2.

Luck continues to desert Ryton and Crawcrook Albion as they went down 2-1 to West Allotment Celtic in the Northern League.

Tynedale Ladies booked their place in the Northumberland FA Women's Cup as they breezed to a 6-0 triumph over Forest Hall.

Meanwhile, Prudhoe Town Women got back to winning ways courtesy of a 2-1 win over Birtley Town Ladies.
