Haltwhistle target second title

HALTWHISTLE Conservatives could be crowned champions of the Hexham and District Sunday League for the second year running tonight.


For victory at bottom club Rose and Crown Bellingham will mean they can no longer be caught by their title rivals, meaning the trophy will stay in the most westerly town in the league.

Also tonight, Allendale host second placed Wylam in the quarter-finals of the John Pickworth League Cup with the victors booking their place in the semis against Haltwhistle on Sunday morning.

The pick of the ties in the Mick Simmons Trophy sees Prudhoe Social Club host rivals Prudhoe Town, while Division One's Ryton and Crawcrook Albion welcome Dr Syntax Prudhoe of the second division.

Barrasford travel to Division Two's Acomb Welfare, while Stocksfield host lower ranked oppostion too in the form of Hexham Hearts.

In the Northern League, Ryton and Crawcrook Albion's fight for survival sees them visit Chester-le-Street Town.
