Haltwhistle aim to repeat county feat

A SECOND successive date in the final four of the county cup is on the agenda for Haltwhistle Conservatives.

Halty cons

Having fell to the might of Burradon and New Fordley in last year's Northumberland FA Sunday Cup, the Hexham and District Sunday League champions are gunning for a semi berth again on Sunday.

They welcome Cramlington Sunday League challengers Cullercoats Formica who look to battle it out with Burradon for the championship to Bardon Mill for the game.

Of the nine league games they have played this year, they have won seven and drew one - their one defeat coming against (you've guessed it) Burradon.

While battling it out in the quarters, Haltwhistle will be keeping a close eye on the crunch game at the top of Division One between leaders Wylam and third placed Stocksfield.

As it stands, Wylam enjoy a one point advantage over their rivals and enjoy a game in hand.

Towards the foot of the table, Hexham Phoenix host Rose and Crown Bellingham after the teams shared eight goals when they met in the North Tyne.

The rest of the division are in KO Cup action with Ryton and Crawcrook Albion entertaining Prudhoe Town and The Falcon Prudhoe playing host to Allendale.

Division Two leaders Prudhoe Social Club's pursuit of the double takes them to Phoenix Chopwell in the KO Cup as they look to add that trophy to the league championship they have already secured.

In the league, third placed Warden Boatside are at bottom club Swinburne Arms Stamfordham and Haydon Bridge Anchor visit second bottom Acomb Welfare.
