WHEN Stocksfield visit Gateshead Rutherford in the Premier Division of the Northern Alliance, they will meet many players from the home side with big points to prove.
None more so than young manager Chris Fairless, a former striker the Griffins who will be desperate to get one over on his ex-teammates.
Goalkeeper Owen Little is in the same boat, while Sean Wilkinson and Jay Keelan play for Stocksfield on a Sunday morning but will want to see their Saturday counterparts beaten.
Ryton and Crawcrook Albion’s Sam Moore and Barrasford’s Will Forsyth will come up against some of their Hexham and District Sunday League rivals in the fixture, although the latter is struggling with a dead leg.
The same will apply to Stocksfield, though, and they will be going all out to prevent their former colleagues picking up the points.
They go into the game on the back of two straight defeats, but showed early promise with one win and a draw in their opening two fixtures.
Wallington are another local side wanting to keep up their promising early season form and play host to Walker Central.
The only cup Prudhoe Town did not win last year was the Shipowners Charity Cup but they will look to put that right, starting with a trip to Horden CW in the first round.
Back in the Alliance, Division One’s Hexham visit Willington Quay Saints and Ponteland United welcome Forest Hall.
Chopwell are at Blyth Isabella in Division Two, and Ryton and Crawcrook Albion host Darlington RA in Division Two of the Northern League.
