Cyclist dies after collision near Chollerton

A CYCLIST died after a collision with a car in Tynedale.
The man from North Tyneside, in his 40s, was fatally injured on the A6079 near Chollerton, just under a mile west of the junction with the A68.
The collision with a Ford Fiesta car occurred at 3.05pm on Saturday. The cyclist suffered a head injury and was taken to Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary where he later died.
The car driver was not injured.
The road was closed for three hours while emergency teams carried out investigations.
