Eagle fashioned from Roman coins lands at fort museum

A STATUE of an eagle fashioned out of 3,000 melted down Roman coins goes on display at Chesters fort this week, along with some of the nigh-on 2,000-year-old currency that escaped the sculptor’s furnace.

    POLAR explorer Conrad Dickinson was guest speaker at a charity dinner hosted by Hexham Rotary Club. He gave an illustrated talk on the South Pole trek he went on with Prince Harry and a group of injured servicemen and women. The dinner at Langley Castle raised £4,370 for the Walking with the Wounded charity.
