Bardon Mill secure promotion

BARDON Mill will play Division One football next term after securing the second promotion place at the weekend.

Courtesy of a 6-1 victory at Phoenix Chopwell, the Millers joined newcomers Prudhoe Social Club in booking their progress to the highest division in the Hexham and District Sunday League.

Leaders Prudhoe need just one point from their remaining two games to finish their debut season as champions as they maintained their unbeaten run with a 6-1 triumph over Haydon Bridge Anchor.

Dr Syntax Prudhoe slipped up in their pursuit of third spot as they lost 2-1 at home to Hexham Hearts.

In a tussle between the league's bottom two teams, Acomb Welfare came out on top of basement boys Swinburne Arms Stamfordham with thanks to a 3-1 victory.
