Get active
KICKING back on the settee with a pile of tasty snacks and a great film is wonderful.
But too much of a good thing can be bad, and far too many of us are shunning exercise for more sedentary activities.
The Evening Mail last year launched a bid to combat this by getting Barrow and South Cumbria fit and healthy.
And those efforts, through our Love Your Life, Live Your Life campaign step up a gear this weekend, with a heath fair designed to get people off their bums and into exercise, while encouraging healthy eating and lifestyles.
This is not about preaching or adopting a holier-than-thou attitude.
It is simply about motivating people who need a little poke in the right direction.
Up to 40 different organisations and agencies will be at the event; each on hand to offer help and advice on everything from stopping smoking to losing weight and blood pressure.
We call on everyone to get down and see what’s on offer – and perhaps start the first day of the rest of your lives.
TODAY we are asking readers of the Evening Mail to have their say on the most inspirational carer in Barrow.
These selfless individuals are a cut above the rest; doing things that simply would not register with others.
Of course the task of picking one from the shortlisted three will be tough; they are all winners to have reached the final. But only one can be crowned the overall victor. Make sure you have your say.
